Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has already signed a new contract to remain with the club until 2023.
De Gea, 28, has produced 367 United appearances since Sir Alex Ferguson brought him to the club in Atletico Madrid within an #18.9m deal in June 2011.
“Now my future is repaired, all I want is to help this team reach what I believe we could and win trophies again, collectively,” said the Spaniard.
“It’s been a privilege to spend eight years at this fantastic club.”
De Gea helped United win the Premier League title in 2012-13, the FA Cup and the League Cup and the Europa League in 2016-17.
The Spaniard, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid lately, would have been able to open discussions with clubs out England over a transfer in January and was at the past year of his contract.
He came near to joining Real in a 29m move however, the deal collapsed since the necessary paperwork was not filed in time on the last day of the transfer window.
De Gea and united were in negotiations for over two years within the deal with the club creating an deal that is improved in July.
“The chance to continue his career at Manchester United is a real honour,” explained De Gea, who has the option to extend the contract for a further season.
“As I came here, I could never have imagined I would play over 350 games with this club.
“I still feel that I have so much more to achieve at the club and I genuinely believe that Manchester United can build about the club’s heritage of success and reward our supporters for their support.
“I am committed to continue supporting the fans for all the care that they’ve shown me through the good days and the poor.”
De Gea has played in all five of United’s Premier League matches with the club fourth in 2019-20, seven points.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stated:”I am delighted that David has committed his long term future to the club.
“Over the last few decades, David has demonstrated himself to be the best in the world and a vital portion of our strategies as we seem to take Manchester United back to wherever it goes.”
The Norwegian added that De Gea”reflects all you want in a goalkeeper”.
