Gary Neville’s verdict on Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd, Tottenham and Chelsea

Gary Neville assesses Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea Before the Yield of the Premier League.

Action resumes this weekend after the break along with the Sky Sports expert has had his say on the sides that finished in the top six final season, assessing their begins.
Read on about Liverpool’s title charge, Man City’s potential problem, Arsenal start beneath Unai Emery, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man United rebuild and hard starts for Chelsea and Spurs.
Neville says:”I was watching Liverpool in Burnley and that I had that feeling.
“I said last year I thought they had been a championship team. They’re a tournament team. They’re currently playing at a level that could win the title.
“You saw them in Burnley, plus they weren’t brilliant at the first 20 minutes, but they move and get a goal and then another aim.
“You talk about the clinical element of a group. The defensive bit is correct, the bit is correct, and the midfield appears experienced and solid. They’re a title-winning team plus they were last year, essentially with exactly what they did”

Neville says:”If Aymeric Laporte’s injury is a serious one, it is a major issue for City. I stated a couple of weeks back I struggled to understand why City didn’t follow through on Harry Maguire with Vincent Kompany leaving the club.
“I thought Kompany won them the Celtics in the past ten matches of last year when he played all those games. Forget the Leicester minute that was spectacular, I believed his leadership held them together as if you would not think when Liverpool were implementing pressure. Concerning this leader-type figure, I think this has been got by Laporte.
“I feel that this will cost City points. To be fair, there’s no one greater than Pep Guardiola, full stop at training in the world. And there is no one better at making what would be play nicely.
“I watched two Champions League finals where Barcelona’d Javier Mascherano and Yaya Toure playing centre-back against Manchester United. So, I am not going to sit here and make the mistake of believing since they have that a lot of the ball during games a Kyle Walker or into a Fernandinho can not turn to a leading centre-back.
“What I’d say is that when Laporte is outside for a long time, I think that it will cost City points since he’s a dominant centre-back. I found him three occasions and he is a fantastic player. It is a real stress for City. That is the one downer from this weekend for City and when I was a City fan it would worry me at the short-term along with the medium-term, based on how long he was out ”

Neville states:”I thought there was great things from Arsenal in their defeat at Liverpool. I came from it with a degree of sympathy, thinking there was something there to construct. I have been like this. Against Spurs, additionally, you speak about the threat, the durability but you have to mention that they do seem rash and sloppy in the trunk.
“We spoke about the goalkeeper, Bernd Leno’s error. I don’t quite trust him. I really don’t think he is anywhere close to the course of the other goalkeepers we’ve got in the Premier League. David and Sokratis Luiz, the 2 centre-backs, are rash.
“You could assert that Hector Bellerin has to return in, Rob Holding’s got to return, and Kieran Tierney has also got to return to ensure back four can be strengthened. But you still worry that back four may still not be for where Arsenal need to be, quite great enough.
“They somehow need to unearth a centre-back from someplace that’s going to hold back that line together.
“There’s still that fear of Arsenal that they look all over the area at the trunk when they have good players .
“We saw Tottenham produce many chances on the counter-attack them against whereas the top teams handle the counter-attack. They do not allow other teams to counter them very frequently, City and Liverpool particularly and sustain their own attacks.
How to see Arsenal this weekend: Watford vs Arsenal is dwell on Super Sunday from 4pm; kick-off 4.30pm. Sky Sports customers can watch clips in the live match site on the Sky Sports site and program. Neville says:”When you have a young team like the sole Manchester United possess – it has got a great deal of gamers that are growing and attempting to improve themselves – I believe they’re going to get lots of outcomes like this where they can do OK in the game. They simply don’t have, although I thought they played okay against Southampton.
“There’s a component of frustration out of United fans because of where the club are. There’s still that history of achievement under Sir Alex Ferguson however there has been seven or six decades now because and there’s a component of frustration creating – frustration – that they aren’t on the perfect track.
“I think they are on the ideal path in terms of what they’re doing because the first thing United must do, you have to get a group of people in that changing space that wish to be present.
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, at what he’s doing, is trying to play the long game. To play with the game out above he is going to require the aid. He is going to want strong leadership over the subsequent two or three seasons to be able to have those five or four move windows he wants, not to really get people in the dressing room facing the same direction, but to find the caliber in that is desired. You will need the quality to choose the orientation at the dressing area.
“What Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have performed at Man City and Liverpool, it takes some time to get right. Guardiola 12 months, three move windows, since he had a group in the first location were taken by it. It’s taken in what he’d say what he wishes to do and is his culture, his style the culture to influence and receive a team.
“It does take some time. Solskjaer is working more with a squad like the only Klopp picked up compared to one Guardiola at Liverpool. From this perspective, this is going to be a game at Old Trafford and it is going to be bothersome sometimes. There will be results along the way just like Wolves, Southampton and Crystal Palace, but when you see the team a lot of the principles are correct.
“They appear to be enjoying the proper way. You see Daniel James score that target and the manner by which they are currently trying to perform is seen by you with. Its design is rightthe bones are not still there. But there’s still a very long way to go and it’s definitely going to be bumpy along the way.”

Neville states:”The attraction at Arsenal has been a big time for Spurs. In the lead up to this match, there was an element of stress towards Tottenham in terms of Mauricio Pochettino. There were suggestions he would be on his way outside. There were tips that the dressing room wasn’t quite as it ought to be when you’ve seen the most perfect harmony between players and coach.
“I don’t think that’s not there anymore. Ultimately there been some unsettling elements concerning players maybe attempting to leave and maybe wanting to run down their contracts.
“However, to get withstood that strain from the second-half at the Emirates until the global break and come away with a point was a big time for Pochettino. It’s some thing as a trainer to build on.
“I really don’t buy into this Arsenal will finish above Tottenham stuff, to tell the truth. There is discussion Spurs are on the way down, but I think that they are an excellent team.”
The way to watch Tottenham this weekend: Practice Tottenham vs Crystal Palace together with our dedicated live website from 2pm on Saturday. Highlights of the game will be published at 5.15pm on the Sky Sports website and program and also the Sky Sports Football YouTube channel.
Neville says:”Like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in Manchester United, I think the same for Frank Lampard at Chelsea. We’re currently seeing Lampard attempt to change what’s been a system for the past 15 years at Chelsea. They have been a physical machine that has had that experience. You’ve always looked at Chelsea and believed they know their way. They are wise, they are older.
“You look at this team today and it’s less expertise. It has know how and it’s youth and immaturity relating to it. With that comes a few outcomes and errors.
“Lampard is a youthful manager, but having made the choice to appoint himit doesn’t seem right they’re not likely to go with them and back them with what they are attempting to do – because he is trying to change the culture in the club.
“If you are attempting to perform what Lampard’s performing, which will be bringing through the likes of Tammy Abraham,” Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and other academy-type players, you are likely to have to give him time. That’s the big question for both Chelsea, and Manchester United. They are going to need strong leadership, they will need to resist some stress, particularly on social media, and stand firm. They have to say:”We know what is being assembled, it’s right and we are likely to proceed with this.”
