Caroline Weir’s stunning 25-yard strike secured a derby victory for Manchester City facing a record Women’s Super League bunch at the Etihad Stadium.

However, it was a different story after the break as City began to control and they caught the lead after Weir let fly with a rising shot from beyond the box.
Beckie fired over the bar missed a chance after hurrying over half of the period of the pitch in a lightning counter-attack to miscue her attempt.
As City completely dominated the half hour pinning the visitors back in their own 24, stoney’s side seemed to wilt.
Their advantage almost doubled when the impressive Beckie played with a in the box also also Tessa Wullaert pulled a climbing shot over the bar from a tight angle.
However there was still time for United to come close to snatching a point when Groenen was found unmarked in the Town box at the 83rd minute.
Despite stumbling as she attempted her shot, the Dutch striker trickled an effort which defeat Roebuck but rebounded off the foot of straight back and a post into the alleviated’keeper’s arms.
