RugbyX will see the debut of rugby’s version of this’Super Over’, with drawn matches decided with a contest that is revolutionary.
In case of a draw, one attacker from one team will try and score beyond a defender in another.
The’one-on-one’ was included as part of the complete laws of RugbyX, which have now been verified by World Rugby.
October the latest version of rugby launches at the 02 Arena on 29.
Ireland england and the Barbarians are one of the groups involved at the introduction tournament, which entails both men and women’s teams.
Dubbed’Rugby’s Twenty20′, RugbyX is a five-a-side variant of the game, performed on a pitch that is half-sized and is complete contact.
Halves will likely be 10 minutes each, without a break in between.
Kicking is enabled, but kicks shouldn’t exceed 10 metres in elevation, together with the space tracked by ball tracking technology.
One of the supported laws:
“The RugbyX laws are developed with the aim of supporting easy, fast and skilful gameplay using nominal stoppages, whilst retaining the core principles of the sport we love,” explained RugbyX Technical Director Ben Ryan.
Former England winger Ugo Monye, co-host of the Rugby Union Weekly podcast, considers that the’one on one’ is a more revolutionary and remarkable means of deciding a match.
The attacker will begin 30 metres in the line, although the defender begins out 5 metres , using a 10 second time limit.
“As a guardian it’s a nightmare, however, as a attacker the pressure is on you to score,” he explained. “I would like to see someone such as [Springbok wing] Cheslin Kolbe doing it.
“For me, RugbyX is really an extremely simplified and abbreviated version that cherry-picks the best pieces of what rugby is.”
